Paeonia Suffruticosa
Sunday, March 01, 2015
Paeonia suffruticosa 牡丹 (mǔdān) is one of my favourite flowers that I can die for. It is also known as peony. Peony is the among the longest-used flowers in Eastern culture and is one of the smallest living creature national emblems in China. It is a traditional floral symbol of China, being used in Chinese art. I started falling in love with it since secondary school as it is the carving on the Pipa that I used to play during co-curriculum activities. It was also known as King of flower. And you can see it everywhere during this auspicious festival (CNY) as it is used as part of decoration.
Colours that I used: white, red, purple and pink (Buncho watercolour series).
Brush: size 0 Artpac
This painting basically used up my 4 hours to complete starting from drawing to painting. =)
